Spectral Analysis

PIMA™ can replace routine X-ray diffraction analysis for many applications, especially with clay minerals and other infrared active alteration minerals. Spectral International offers this spectral analysis service as a cost effective means for mineral identification.

The analytical service is offered for any number of samples. We run the sample with PIMA™, interpret the minerals present and provide selected, plotted spectra with references and an Excel log as seen below, which summarizes what we see in the sample.

This plot shows a mixture of jarosite(black arrows) and smectite(red arrows). The unknown is dark blue; jarosite reference is cyan; smectite reference is magenta.

The Excel Log has the following type of format:

We are pleased to provide further interpretation and comments on the alteration system and what the PIMA™ data is showing. This is an additional service.

Cost Schedule:

We prefer to quote each job separately. General costs include:

Basic analysis, with interpretation and identification log

1-19 samplesUS$30/sample
20-50 samplesUS$25/sample
Larger number of samples are quoted on a per job basis and can be discounted further for higher volumes.

We can also set up an account with monthly billings where samples are sent "as collected" or as the analysis is needed and the volume discount is applied.

ON LINE SERVICES

Starting in May, SII will offer an on line mineral Identification services

1. Wavelength Search/Match access to SPECMIN

Seach by wavelength - the quickest way to a mineral ID

2. Dial into the FeatureSearch program.

The user can login, access the program and submit a spectral file, and interact with the program for an identification.
