PIMA is a field portable, infrared spectrometer that operates in the SWIR (Short Wave InfraRed range of the electromagnetic spectrum for the analysis of mineral and vegetation species. PIMA brings the analytical capabilities of laboratory spectroscopy to the outcrop.

PIMA INSTRUMENT CONFIGURATION

  • High spectral resolution in the SWIR (1300 ­ 2500 nanometers).
  • Measurement requires little or no sample preparation.
  • Measurement is made in a contact mode with sensor window.
  • Uses internal light source for reproducibility and stability.
  • Interfaces with Windows Laptop computer via RS232 cable.
  • Can be run from "Palmtop" computer.
  • Automatic wavelength calibration.
  • Radiometrically calibrated during each spectral scan.
  • Monitors battery voltage, temperature and the selected operational mode.
  • Can be operated from vehicle power point socket.

  • 32 Integration levels for Sample and Reference (10 seconds to 5 minutes).
  • 1Cm2 PbS Detector with TE Cooler provides 8°C

  • Internal 10 Watt stable lamp source.
  • Uses 110/220V Power Supply or 12V lead gel batteries.
