TerraSpec® Field Spectrometer
Manufactured by: Analytical Spectral Devices, Inc.
Computer Specifications
- 200 MHz Pentium II or higher processor.
- 64 MB RAM or higher - 128 MB recommended.
- 100 MB of free disk space.
- Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP
- 800x600 or higher graphics resolution.
- 16 bit color or higher - 32 bit recommended.
- Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
- Bi-directional parallel port.
- NMEA compatible GPS receiver.
- Connector cable for GPS receiver.
If you decide to go with a computer that does not have a Parallel Port,
you'll have to integrate a PCMCIA to parallel adapter. We recommend the
Quatech SPP-100 PCMCIA to parallel port card. If/when we get to this point,
I can help you through the installation with this sort of adapter. Unfortunately,
SD's RS^3 software is not WindowsCE compatible, nor will it work properly with
the newer tablet-type computers. My best recommendation at this point in time
is the Panasonic CF-M34 model.
I have tested this computer
extensively with our current FieldSpec spectroradiometers and it is quite nice.
This would be my computer choice if I were purchasing an instrument today.
If you'd like to discuss the pros and cons in a bit more detail or if you have
an alternate computer in mind, please feel free to contact me or send me a link to
the computer(s) you are considering.
